EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEVV) — A Florida man is facing charges in Evansville after EPD says he was arrested for causing problems while under the influence and tried to bribe his way out of trouble.
Officers say they were called to the Drury Inn on Cross Pointe Boulevard Wednesday to investigate a report of a customer causing trouble.
At the scene, hotel security told EPD that 30-year-ols Samuel Kocurek of Florida was heavily intoxicated and had been harassing several other hotel guests.
Officers say Kocurek smelled like alcohol, could barely keep his balance, and had slurred speech and bloodshot eyes.
When police asked for Kocurek's ID, they say he initially told them it would cost them $20. After Kocurek eventually handed over his ID, police say they could hear him yelling at people and causing more problems.
Police say they attempted to take Kocurek into custody, but that he resisted and refused to listen.
While being taken to jail, EPD says Kocurek tried to bribe his way out of trouble - offering an officer 20, $400, $2,000, and even $4,000 to let him go and take him home.
Kocurek was booked into the Vanderburgh County Jail on charges of bribery, battery, resisting law enforcement, public intoxication, and disorderly conduct.
